I have two children. Yes they are both toddlers, very close in age, however, I think they could be better behaved. I constantly am "Google" how to parent better, or trying to find answers to the CRAZY things that they do. I have even looked into Super Nanny for some answers. Sophia is 4 years old, she has some ADHD tendencies in which I have altered her daily diet to accommodate her needs rather than placing her on medications. He primary physician has suggested that nothing medically would be done until the kindergarten teacher notices an issue in class. Sophia at home is like seven kids wrapped all into one. She is spunky and sweet and loud and bouncing off the walls at most hours of the day. Someone once suggested to give her caffeine to counteract the hyper-activeness. Well, that did NOT work. but I think that if I change the way I parent then things may go smoother with her.
Cooper is not very hyperactive. He is actually quite calm, sweet, and cuddly. Cooper has an attitude when he is tired and fussy just like any other child I would assume.
I am/was the type of parent that would tell the children that they couldn't do something and if they whined long enough I would give in and let them. The kids quickly learned that I was a push over. I swore up and down when Sophia was born that I would not spank her. It was two years ago she got her first spanken and I remember calling my mother in shock saying I can't believe that I had done that. I didn't like to see her face when she was disciplined like that, it seemed it didn't hurt her physically but emotionally. Then the worse part would come after the discipline would she would say that she did not like me anymore and that I wasn't her friend. I would just respond with "Well, Mommy loves you!" It wasn't until recently when I disciplined Cooper and he flat out laughed at me that the children do not take me seriously when its regarding discipline or rules. So I have a two week break from school and decided that this is the time to redo MY parenting. It's not a matter of "Google" answers for the kids' behavior as much as teaching myself that when I say NO it means no!! I know that I want to be their friend, role model and parent. However, I do not want children that people look at as naughty kids that do not listen or that grow up thinking they can do whatever. I want to have my childrens respect because I earned it, not because I gave in and let them have whatever they wanted...
The past two days have been rough, however, the dynamic just in the past two days have completely changed. If Skyler wasn't here it felt like the kids knew they ran the house. Today, they are confused and I can tell, but I feel in control. I know I have this. I know it will be hard but it will so be worth it. Parenting of course is easy when the kids have no bedtime, eat whatever they want, and watch movies all day if they want. today, the kids are grounded for not listening and not taking a nap. the only privilege that they have is playing in their room. Cooper lost his toy cars for the night and Sophia lost TV for the night. It is actually a total pleasure to watch them play for the last hour so good together. I know this will make me a better parent but I bet this will also make them better siblings. I can already tell. They have ALWAYS been super close. But the way they are playing tonight is amazing.
I think that this is the best thing that could've happened. I am really glad that I decided to get it together and not take the easy way on parenting. I see lot of people give in to their children to not listen to the fight. However, after four years of allowing this it has created a mini diva and that is a bigger mess to clean up then saying no to gum at the store and sticking to it. I think that this is truly better for Sophia and Cooper and well as Skyler and I.

Chaos seems to be the norm for most
Why is when things are going so well people have a need to create conflict and chaos just for fun? I don't understand what the need would be? I think I used to be like that but now I just want things to be smooth. I don;t have time for the nonsense. Or the will power to even handle it with grace. Today was an odd one. Tonight was odd. I think that I am just indifferent about the situation and for maybe the first time in my life I am speechless! To not have a care how someone else is feeling about the situation and to be so selfish that you don't even care? Why is that? Men! Boys! :)
Dress for Success Future America!! C'mon Ladies!!!
Success? What does it actually mean? Well to me it when all is said and done we are where we want to be, with who we were meant to be with, and doing what we love to do. How do we get to that place? For me, all I have wanted to do for several years now is be a lawyer. I am doing my pre law requirements and look forward to the LSAT. However, to get to be the person of absolute and ultimate respect there has to be a time where we adapt to who we want to be before we actually are and start acting like that. Which includes how we dress. This came to me when I noticed a girl walking out of the college dressed in pajama pants and a tshirt with bright pink fuzzy slippers (with hanging balls). In all the time I have been at this college I have noticed the oddest things. Attire, language, vocabulary, and social standings between the what I call them "IPOD crew", Alpha Tau Tau, nurses, academically challenged skippers, and then me and a few others who actually care that they are spending $81 per credit. How obvious it seems to me is clearly not what others think. I have been talking to a girl at the school who had/has poor sense of judgement and vocabulary in public. She is a nursing student. How is it that St. Francis would be there for a Career Fair and hear her say something regarding F***ing this and that? all while wearing sweats and sweatshirts? I think that if you dress the part during school that you will be taking it more seriously. Why be in the backdrop or to be considered in one of these groups that all staff are looking at and wondering why?? That's the main question and thought from this morning I had. To be not judgmental because I am really not trying to be I just think that students all over should be excited they have the opportunity to have secondary education. Some people do not get that chance.
It doesn't take that long for women to get ready. Shower, make up, hair, and accessories? I mean if you just roll out of bed through your unbrushed hair in a ponytail, gunk on your teeth, and put your slippers on to go to class in a nursing field, or Business Administration who is going to take you serious? This is what we signed up for. Lets make the best of it because we have no idea who is sitting in the hall or common areas in a position to hire us one day.
This would be a NO hopefully you agree!! :) But this is what I see! If you cant wear it to work at walmart don't wear it in public...
Here are some nicely dressed students! This is what we should dress like! Even Tshirts and jeans and tennies. I just don't think that wearing Pj's is the way you want to portray yourself when getting into a professional career, unless, of course, you are looking to be a sleep aid, even then I think scrubs would be better! :)

How is it when a women gets a little older and a little bit wiser she becomes more aware of what is exactly going on around her. The worst part of that though would be the constant reminder that what once was was no longer there. For example, the feeling women get when they want to feel sexy which comes easier to alot of people especially when they are young, have no children, or are a little bit chunky. Well, coming from personal experience I would have to say that I find it extremely hard to totally comfortable being "sexy". I think that my mom clothes are sexy. BUT I actually had a "aha" moment yesterday and tried to be a lil sexy. This was encouraged by my recent loss of my mid section. But anyway so I tried. I thought I looked good. It wasn't even mom sexy. It was more like I'm a 25 year Law student who wants what others may have. So I tried. And the response I got you may wonder?? WAS.... "it's adorable"... Really? I tried. Especially considering it was VDAY and well I don't really prefer that holiday by any means. I am more concerned with maybe I am not with the up and up anymore. I'm only 25 but geez what is sexy? I'm not talking cleavage and thongs I am talking about maturity and have an absolutely wonderfully loving relationship with someone and being sexy.

Valentines Day
Why is it that there can be so many good/bad things throughout the year and then on one totally commercialized holiday all is forgotten and people are spending money on their "loved" ones as if it is a makeup holiday for those not in such good times in their lives. I would much rather have a card that says I love you on any other day of the year other than a holiday. That would truly make me smile. Why do we need to have someone else tell us when it is okay to say it and buy chocolate hearts for others? And yet at such young ages we are taught that today is the day we buy sugared candies and little paper cards that say odd messages and hand them out to everyone.
This morning I heard a man at the bank tell the cashier "Happy Valentines Day" she said thanks of course. But why not tomorrow or even yesterday he say "Good Morning, what a great day".. I think we often forget that our loved ones either, spouses, friends, and family and even associates could use a pick me up sometime throughout the year. Not just on holidays. Wouldn't that be more meaning? At least it would for me... I'm not a big VDAY person anyway. But that's a whole other subject. I guess my point is that I think we should be getting small gifts or cards/flowers on just regular days as a "just because I care" gift... Its the thought that counts not the day.
